Conflicted Over Gifted

… thousands of 4-year-olds across the city will be subject to a test that could determine their fate for the next 6, 9 or 13 years.
There are five citywide gifted-and-talented schools. Getting in to the coveted five is like winning the lottery. Slightly easier is getting into each district’s gifted-and-talented program.
… the new test will weigh heavily on the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT). This test, which relies on abstract spatial thinking, will now account for about two-thirds of the score, while the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) will be about a third.
