High School Year Abroad Programs

Perhaps the original Study Year abroad program (http://www.sya.org/s/833/start.aspx), which was started by Phillps Exeter Academy, Phillips Academy, and St. Paul’s School.  The most expensive at $48,000+ for an academic year!

The CIEE academic year-long program (depending upon the country) starts around $15,000. http://www.ciee.org/high-school-study-abroad/australia/ (e.g. $15K for Australia)

AFS http://www.afsusa.org/ seems a wee bit cheaper, and here’s a breakdown of its costs.

If we can pull off the global experience component for the charter school by using overseas-born/bred Ivy League alum to organize similar semester-long (probably not year-long) study abroad, our costs should be much lower because we won’t have to include as many non-academic costs – see AFS’s cost breakdown.
